Instructional Positions 

Middle School IMAGINE Language Arts Teacher

Description: Provides and is accountable for the planning, assessment, instruction, communication, human relations, safety, and management of an IMAGINE language arts classroom; assists with other duties assigned by the administration; collaborates with other summer program teachers to plan and facilitate Project-based Learning and student reflection through Portrait of Graduate Presentations of Learning. Attend all face-to-face or virtual training provided prior to and during the session. 

Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education. Experience with concept-based curriculum, POG-POL and the engagement model, plus one year of middle school language arts teaching experience, preferred.

Middle School IMAGINE Math Teacher

Description: Provides and is accountable for the planning, assessment, instruction, communication, human relations, safety, and management of an IMAGINE math classroom; assists with other duties assigned by the administration; collaborates with other summer program teachers to plan and facilitate Project-based Learning and student reflection through Portrait of Graduate Presentations of Learning. Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education. Endorsement in Mathematics or Middle Education Mathematics, plus one (1) year of middle school math teaching experience, preferred. Experience with POG-POL, preferred.

Middle School IMAGINE Language Arts Resource Teacher

Description: Supports the teachers in language arts instruction and distribution of supplies; provides real-time technical support for teachers and students; oversees staff development for content issues; assists with other duties assigned by the administration. Ability to attend all face-to-face or virtual training provided prior to and during the session. 

Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education. Experience in teaching middle school language arts or as a middle school language arts resource teacher, preferred.

Middle School IMAGINE Math Resource Teacher

Description: Supports the teachers in math instruction and distribution of supplies; provides real-time technical support for teachers and students; oversees staff development for content issues; assists with other duties assigned by the administration. Ability to attend all face-to-face or virtual training provided prior to and during the session. 

Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education. Experience in teaching middle school math or as a middle school math resource teacher is preferred.

Middle School IMAGINE Special Education Resource Teacher

Description: Assists the Site Director and general education teachers in areas including behavior management and student assignment; may provide intervention and direct instruction for students who are not making expected progress; interprets IEP and other information; and may conduct teacher training. Ability to attend all face-to-face or virtual training provided prior to and during the session.  

Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education with endorsement in Special Education.  Middle school special education teaching experience, preferred.

Middle School IMAGINE ESOL Resource Teacher

Description: Assists the Site Director and teachers in areas including student assignment; may provide intervention and direct instruction for ELs who are not making expected progress; helps teachers working with ELs, particularly in the areas of differentiation and accommodations; and may conduct teacher training. Ability to attend all face-to-face or virtual training provided prior to and during the session. 

Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education with endorsement in English as a Second Language plus one (1) year of ESOL teaching experience; middle school  or ELD and ELs teaching experience, preferred.

Middle School IMAGINE Transitional Support Resource Teacher

Description: Supports transition needs during summer learning, enabling students to achieve optimal learning; performs specialized support in an educational setting; interprets information needed to support planning in the education setting. Ability to attend all face-to-face or virtual training provided prior to and during the session.  

Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education. Experience at elementary or middle school level, preferred.

Middle School IMAGINE Librarian

Description: Supports teachers and students in accessing library resources; accountable for check-out, return, and re-shelving of books and media. Ability to attend all face-to-face or virtual training provided prior to and during the session. 

Qualifications: Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education. Endorsement in Library Media PreK-12 plus experience with Destiny Discover and MackinVIA library platforms. Experience working collaboratively to design and facilitate instruction, preferred.

Operational/Support Positions

Middle School IMAGINE Instructional Assistant

Description: Performs a variety of paraprofessional curriculum, instructional, clerical, and support tasks to support teachers and other professional staff in an IMAGINE classroom; assists with the daily management of the students and classroom. Ability to attend all face-to-face or virtual training provided prior to and during the session. 

Qualifications: Graduation from high school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with school staff and students; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Middle School IMAGINE Office Assistant

Description: Performs a variety of general office duties required to support the activities of a school to include responding to requests for information, maintaining and updating records and preparing documents; assists with site and program close-out, supply distribution, collection, and inventory. Ability to attend all face-to-face or virtual training provided prior to and during the session. 

Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school plus some general office experience. SIS experience, preferred. Knowledge of basic business office practices and procedures; ability to use assignment-specific computers, software, and peripheral equipment.

Middle School Safety and Security Specialist

Description: Supports the centrally located programs at the regional program sites. Guides the development and implementation of a program for student security and supervision that fosters a safe environment and positive school–community relations; supports various aspects of student activities; and performs related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:  Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, or a related field plus four (4) years of progressively more experience in safety and security. Certification by the Virginia Center for School Safety required. Knowledge of local county, and state rules and regulations requiring an alcohol-, drug-, weapons- and tobacco-free environment; knowledge of student safety and conduct; ability to enforce those regulations; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public. Applicants must be at least 21 years old at time of appointment.

School Health Room Aide Floater

Description Provides onsite coverage and assistance to a primary School Health Aide; provides screening, care, and health record documentation for sick and injured students within the school and on school grounds according to established guidelines; facilitates administration of medications; performs special health care procedures such as epinephrine injections, glucagon injections, and nebulization treatments; acts as a primary health room attendant in the absence of the School Health Aide.

Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate, plus two (2) years of experience working with children and families. Current CPR and AED certifications, required. Two (2) years of supplemental coursework in a related field to education or human services preferred. Knowledge of CDC/safety protocols and procedures; proficiency in technology; ability to ensure compliance with policies and procedures; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with school staff members, students and community members.
