Camps and Institutes: Elementary Institute for the Arts (E-IFTA)

A summer exploration of the arts for elementary school students currently in grades 3-5.

Registration for all summer camps and institutes opens February 5, 2018.

E-IFTA is a weekly arts and STEAM camp for students who love to sing, dance, act, perform, make, and create. The first two weeks are titled "All About the Arts" and focus on classes in dance, music, theatre, and visual art. The last two weeks are titled "Arts + STEM = STEAM" and incorporate technology and engineering with music, visual art and theatre classes. Class content changes every week. Register by week, a combination of weeks, or for the entire program.


Bus transportation is provided from FCPS high schools and middle schools outside of the Lake Braddock pyramid. Transportation to and from these schools is the responsibility of the parent/guardian. The bus schedule is included in the confirmation email received after registration.

Lake Braddock Secondary


Open to students in grades 3-5 who will enter grades 4-6 during the 2018-19 school year.

FCPS students, county residents who are enrolled in private schools or home schooled, and non-Fairfax County residents are encouraged to register.


Week 1 - All About the Arts, July 2-6 (no classes July 4): $185
Week 2 - All About the Arts, July 9-13: $230
Week 3 - Arts+STEM=STEAM, July 16-20: $230
Week 4 - Arts+STEM=STEAM, July 23-27: $230

Reduced fee and tuition waivers are not available for this elective program.


Non-FCPS students must provide a copy of the following documents which can be emailed to or mailed to:

Registration will be open from February 5 to June 10, 2018.

Registration Forms:

Please complete the appropriate form(s) and have your student deliver them to school the first day of the program.


FCPS Food Services provides lunch for $3.25 or students may bring a lunch from home. FCPS students can use their school accounts or pay with cash. Non-FCPS students can pay with cash. Starting June 11, view the lunch menu by school location. Vending machines are available.

Classes & Daily Schedule:

Students attend four classes daily and have a half hour lunch break. Weeks one and two of E-IFTA focus on visual and performing arts classes. Students registered for these weeks have a dance, music, theatre, and visual arts class daily. Weeks three and four of E-IFTA incorporate design and composition principles in music, visual arts, and theatre classes using technology and engineering applications. All classes are taught by teachers who specialize in the arts form and have created the content for the class. All weeks culminate in a take-home project, artwork, or instrument. No two weeks are alike.

Extended Day Classes:

ACE (Adult and Community Education) will offer academically and enrichment focused week long classes at Lake Braddock Secondary School from 2:30-5:30 p.m. after E-IFTA ends for the day. These classes are an additional cost and student pick-up at 5:30 p.m. is the responsibility of the parent. Register for these camps at the same time you register for E-IFTA: K-6 and Secondary.
