Our Schools, Our Future

Superintendent Engagement - School Year 2023-24

FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid is often quoted as saying, “Together all things are possible.” Dr. Reid invites families, students, employees, and community members to talk with her and each other about our schools and our future. Bookmark this page and check back often for the latest opportunities to share your thoughts or questions with Dr. Reid.

Dr. Reid is interested in hearing from you anytime throughout the year. Visit the Superintendent webpage to submit a question or email [email protected]

Events on this page are not the only opportunities to connect with Dr. Reid.  She will continue to be out and about in the community at extra-curricular and special events throughout the year.

Community Conversations

FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid will host a series of Community Conversations throughout the school division this year. The events are opportunities for you to share your thoughts and ask questions.

As a listening leader, connecting and engaging with community members across our division is critical to Dr. Reid.

Superintendent Community Conversations are events open to all and will be held in each FCPS Region. A second series of conversations will take place in the spring to close out the school year. A full schedule of events is listed below. Please choose the event most convenient for you.

School Visits

Dr. Reid says her "heart beats strongest in schools". She visits schools to learn about the school-day experience and talk with students and staff. This year, you may have an opportunity to talk with Dr. Reid at an expanded school visit. She will invite families and caregivers to join her for a morning meeting as she visits schools. She will also meet with students to learn more about their school experience. School communities will be contacted by email as her visits are planned.

Family Panel

Coming Soon: Dr. Reid will soon announce a new Family Panel to provide feedback and insight on a variety of topics. Keep an eye on this space for more information.

Employee Conversations

Employees are the driving force moving us forward on the path outlined by the strategic plan. Employee voices help us find ways to improve everything from operations to instruction. Dr. Reid enjoys talking with FCPS employees to learn more about their work and ideas and invites all employees to join her for one of these conversations dedicated to employee voices.

Dates and locations for Employee Conversations will be shared via email and in upcoming editions of Employee News.

Leadership Roundtables

Dr. Reid regularly takes time to talk with school and division leaders about their work and the ways different teams support the strategic plan. At these leadership roundtables, conversation flows from what’s happening now to future thinking. At the heart of all these conversations are the ways division leaders support our schools and our future.
