Important FCPS Instructional Licensure Deadlines
Getting instructional licensure information submitted on time.
To comply with the Code of Virginia (State laws)*; both FCPS and VDOE require that all contracted instructional personnel hold and maintain an active VDOE-issued license with the required endorsement(s) for their current instructional assignment(s). If you do not meet this professional obligation and expectation, then your status will impact Local, State, and Federal reporting for your school and students. It may also impact your performance evaluation and future employment eligibly with FCPS. You will continue to receive notification from the FCPS Office of Licensure until we receive a copy of your active VDOE-issued license with the required endorsement(s) for your current instructional assignment(s).
Please note the following important FCPS licensure related deadlines
- NEWLY HIRED INSTRUCTIONAL PERSONNEL – Within the first 30 days of employment – your FCPS Office of Licensure records must reflect that you currently hold an active VDOE-issued license with endorsement(s) required for your current instructional assignment(s), OR your complete initial VA licensure application packet must have been received by the FCPS Office of Licensure.
- PROVISIONAL LICENSE HOLDERS – March 1 of the current school year – if you hold a VDOE-issued Provisional License that will expire on June 30 of this school year then you are expected to submit a complete Provisional Licensure upgrade packet to the FCPS Office of Licensure.
- PROFESSIONAL LICENSE HOLDERS – Between January 1 and May 15 of the current school year – if you hold a VDOE-issued 5-year renewable Professional License that will expire on June 30 of this school year then you are expected to submit your complete Professional Licensure renewal packet to the FCPS office of licensure.
If you do not meet the above deadlines you will be subject to the FCPS Contract Nonrenewal Recommendation Process
