Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I use the conversion chart to find my placement on the Current Pay Plan?
    • Find your job title listed on the chart. Next, under current step find your step number and slide across to find your new step and new pay rate.
  • Why doesn’t my number of years of experience equate to my step?
    • That is a common misconception, the actual step number does not match the years of experience. A step simply represents evenly spaced increments of payrates within a paygrade. Step placement is influenced by several factors, such as this year’s redesigned scale scenario, or a challenging budget year in which a step increase is not possible due to financial constraints.
  • What are the differences between the Old Plan and the Current Pay Plan?
    • The old plan has lower hourly rates with more paid nonworking days for more consistent paychecks throughout the year.
    • The current pay plan pays a higher hourly rate with fewer paid nonworking days. Furthermore, if you work additional hours or overtime you will have a greater earning potential on the current pay plan.
