Dependent Turning Age 26

Benefit Considerations for when FCPS Employees' Dependents Turn Age 26

When your child turns age 26, he/she is no longer eligible for FCPS coverage as a dependent. Your dependent will be automatically removed from your coverage. Coverage will end on the last day of the month in which he/she turns 26, unless certified as disabled by your health/dental plan prior to his/her 26th birthday.

Even though your child may be aging off your FCPS coverage, he/she will be eligible for COBRA coverage. With COBRA, your child will be able to keep the same benefits he/she has now for an additional 18 months. However, he/she will be responsible to pay the full cost of coverage.
