Teacher Loan Forgiveness

The Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program is intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue in the teaching profession. Under this program, individuals who teach full-time for five complete, consecutive academic years in certain elementary schools, secondary schools, and educational service agencies that serve low-income families and who meet other qualifications may be eligible for loan forgiveness through the U.S. Education Department’s (USED) Federal Student Aid program. For more information on Teacher Loan Forgiveness, including qualifying grants and a list of eligible low-income schools, visit the USED Federal Student Aid web pages.

Loan Forgiveness Programs are processed through the entity that holds an individual’s loan. For specific questions regarding eligibility for teacher loan forgiveness, teachers must contact their loan holder. FCPS does not process, approve, or deny loan forgiveness applications.
