Adopted Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Years 2023-27

On February 10, 2022, the Fairfax County School Board adopted the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-27 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).  The CIP is a planning and fiscal management tool used to coordinate the location, timing, and funding of capital projects over five years.  The program annually reviews current student membership analysis and facilities data to identify future capacity needs and capital requirements.  The Adopted CIP for FY 2023-27 includes a five-year membership projection, program capacity utilization, and potential solutions to consider for each school with a capacity deficit.  The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on FCPS membership.  Whether these trends are temporary or not will depend on many factors, including the future course of the pandemic and economic conditions.

The CIP identifies projects such as new construction, capacity enhancement, renovation, and potential site acquisitions.  Actual completion dates for capital projects depend on cash flow and debt service limitations established by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.  Click on the links below for more detailed information.

Fairfax County Public Schools' Superintendent Scott S. Brabrand has released the school system's Adopted CIP for FY 2023-27.
