Teachers

  • Teachers can see student work in real time, assess student understanding, and adapt instruction.
  • Teachers can provide feedback throughout the learning process to promote student reflection and encourage revisions before assigning a grade.
  • Teachers can assess student learning over time using the revision history feature.

Students

G Suite supports the development of FCPS Portrait of a Graduate skills. These skills will help students be successful in the workforce of the future.

  • Students can communicate with other FCPS students and staff using their G Suite email.
  • Students can collaborate online with others to explore different viewpoints.
  • Students can work with others and seek feedback to deepen their learning.

  • Students have access to tools within G Suite to improve performance, such as a dictionary, text to speech, and translation supports.

  • Students can explore different perspectives to inform their work. They can create products for the benefit of the broader community, such as public service materials.
  • G Suite provides opportunities for students to learn and practice positive digital citizenship. This includes:
    • Developing online communication and collaboration skills.
    • Managing a group’s information and product creation.
    • Negotiating with peers on group work.
    • Managing conflict when it arises.
    • Using information ethically by learning about copyright and media literacy.
  • The translation tool helps students engage with speakers of other languages and deepen their understanding of diverse perspectives and cultures.

  • G Suite supports all phases of the design process. Students can compile research and create products together.
  • The revision history allows students to move fluently through the design-build process. Students can go back and forth between versions.
  • G Suite provides opportunities for students to apply media and information literacy skills. Students learn to think critically about relevance, validity, currency and impact.
  • Students express their thoughts, ideas and emotions created through the arts. Google Drive allows them to store, share, and receive feedback on recorded videos too.

  • G Suite provides long term storage of class work, enabling students to set goals and complete tasks. Students can also manage their projects and reflect on their progress over time, which supports continuous improvement and student advocacy.
  • G Suite aids students in their daily and long term workflow. Students can store all their work in one location. Files are accessible anywhere and anytime on any device, including mobile.
  • G Suite extends access to class materials beyond the school day. Students can persist through difficult tasks by controlling the amount of time they spend with class materials.
  • Students can organize information in a way that makes sense to them.
