Free and Reduced-Price Meals

Learn more about the criteria and process to apply for free or reduced-priced breakfast and lunch.

Approximately 28 percent of students in FCPS qualify for free and reduced-price meals. The prices for paid breakfast and lunch are determined by the School Board and the price of reduced-price meals are established by the federal government.

Families who earn less than 130 percent of the poverty level are eligible for free meals and those with incomes between 130 and 185 percent of poverty level qualify for reduced-price meals.

Free and reduced-price meal applications are mailed to all households each August. If you do not receive an application in the mail or if you experience an income or household size change, an application is available at your local school, or by contacting Food and Nutrition Services at 703-813-4800 or 703-813-4844.

Students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. Food and Nutrition Services will absorb these costs.
