Free and Reduced-Price Meals

Learn more about the criteria and process to apply for free or reduced-priced breakfast and lunch.

Approximately 28 percent of students in FCPS qualify for free and reduced-price meals. The prices for paid breakfast and lunch are determined by the School Board and the price of reduced-price meals are established by the federal government.

Families who earn less than 130 percent of the poverty level are eligible for free meals and those with incomes between 130 and 185 percent of poverty level qualify for reduced-price meals.

The free and reduced meals application for the 2018-2019 school year is now available.

  • The free and reduced meals application for the 2018-2019 school year includes an online application for parents to submit the application electronically for faster processing.
    • The online free and reduced meals application will be available in the following languages:

      • Vietnamese
      • To change the language of the application click on the Language link in the top right of the screen.
         
    • The online application can be completed on mobile devices.
    • If an email address is provided, notification will be e-mailed regarding approval.

Paper free and reduced meals application will still be available to complete and submit.

Paper free and reduced-price meals applications are available to all households at school offices, school cafeterias, and other FCPS buildings or by contacting Food and Nutrition Services at 703-813-4800 or 703-813-4844.

Paper applications must be the original red print forms, which are available at school offices, school cafeterias, and other FCPS buildings.  Copied application forms cannot be accepted.

Students who qualify for reduced-price meals receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. Food and Nutrition Services will absorb these costs.

Consent to Share Information

This letter informs parents that their children may be eligible to participate in several fee-based programs at either no cost or a reduced cost if they participate in the free and reduced-price meals program, and provide a consent to share information form.

The free and reduced-price meals application also includes a section with the consent to share information for other programs. If section four of the application is completed the form below does not need to be filled out.
