Looking for a Parenting Class?
Are you involved in a court case, or simply want to enhance your parenting skills? We offer fee-based classes in English and Spanish for parents and guardians of infants through teens. Our 4-hour class meets parent education guidelines developed by the Supreme Court of Virginia; a certificate is awarded upon completion of each class.
Day, evening, and Saturday classes are held each month at Dunn Loring Center for Parent Services in Dunn Loring, Virginia (near Tysons Corner).
Classes are for adults only--children are not permitted. Pre-registration is required. We accept the following methods of payment:
- Cash (exact change please)
- Money orders, certified bank, or cashier’s checks made out to Fairfax County Public Schools
- We do not accept personal checks, debit, or credit cards.
Inclement Weather: Parenting classes are considered FCPS-sponsored activities and are canceled when school facilities are closed, or after-school or Saturday activities are canceled due to inclement weather. Please check the main FCPS webpage for the most updated school closing information.
Class Descriptions and Schedule
Co-Parenting: Two Parents, Two Homes (English and Spanish)
Helps parents focus on the responsibilities of parenting from separate households while keeping children out of the middle as the parents negotiate custody, visitation, child support, or divorce.
- One four-hour session.
- Please bring a form of identification to the class.
- The cost is $40 per individual or $60 per couple attending the same class. (Cost includes booklet and other materials.)
Dads Matter (in English)
This two and a half hour, one-session class is for fathers only. The class focuses on the benefits to children (both boys and girls) when they have a positive relationship with Dad. Join other dads to learn and discuss effective fathering strategies. Topics include: your role and goals in fathering the different ways that dads and moms parent, strategies for working with your co-parent, how to develop a support system, and the difference between influence and control.
Class Fee: $20.00 per person (cost includes all materials)
