Free and Confidential Consultations

The Parent Resource Center offers free, confidential consultations by videoconference and phone for families and FCPS staff. 

Our professionals have extensive knowledge, training, and experience. We can brainstorm strategies and possible solutions to help you address your concerns. We are able to draw upon resources and support from FCPS, as well as community, state, and national centers.

We can help families and educators of all students, including those with learning challenges, special needs, and disabilities.

Meet Our Professionals

Mary Beth Harrison-Cunningham, Manager

Mary Beth Harrison-Cunningham is the manager of the Parent Resource Center.  She has worked in public education for 37 years, gaining experience in special education, administration, and family engagement. As a seasoned FCPS administrator, she is passionate about empowering families, educators, students, and community members in their advocacy of children. 

Areas of interest:  secondary education; post-secondary options and planning; special education; emotional and learning disabilities; social-emotional wellness; behavior management; autism; FCPS IEP development and processes; and FCPS resources.

Lisa Milman, Specialist

Lisa Milman is a specialist at the Parent Resource Center. She has 27 years of experience in FCPS as an administrator and teacher.  She is passionate about helping parents advocate for their children. She strives to make FCPS transparent so all students can have equal access to opportunities offered by FCPS. 

Areas of Interest: autism; emotional disabilities; early childhood transition; FCPS continuum of special education services; FCPS systems and structures; and inclusive and accessible activities.

Erika Deem, Liaison

Erika Deem brings the perspective of a social worker to the Parent Resource Center team.  She has experience working in a variety of community organizations, serving in teaching and counseling roles for youth, young adults, and families.  She is passionate about empowering our families and educators with resources and tools to manage any stage or challenge they may be facing.  

Areas of Interest: general parenting; social-emotional skills; digital citizenship; organization systems; and military resources.

Vacant, Liaison

Rita Berlin, Program Assistant

As the program assistant at the Parent Resource Center, Rita Berlin shares her extensive knowledge of our resources and library materials. She also directs callers or visitors to other Center staff members as appropriate. She has spent the majority of her career in FCPS, gaining experiences that help her provide outstanding customer service to our families, community members, and FCPS division-wide staff.
