March 1, 2024 - Leave of Absence (LOA) Applications Due!

Important Information for Employees Looking to Request or Extend an LOA

Employees who intend to request or extend (if applicable) a Leave of Absence (LOA) for the 2024-2025 school must indicate their intentions before/by March 1, 2024. An LOA is an approved, unpaid, extended absence from work that exceeds 30 calendar days. Additional information about leaves of absence and the application process can be found on the Leaves of Absence webpage

Employees who are currently on an approved LOA will be emailed a reminder communication in mid-January from the Disability and Leaves Section, Office of Benefit Services. Employees must indicate their leave intentions by the March 1 deadline by filling out the 2024-2025 Intentions Google form (which will be included in this communication). The Disability and Leave team will contact those employees who request an extension but are unable to extend due to program restrictions.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Disability and Leaves team in the Office of Benefit Services via FCPS StaffConnect (Choose “Leaves and disability benefits question” from the dropdown list) or by calling 571-423-3200.

Please note: If you are expecting a baby or planning to adopt a child, the March 1, 2024, due date does not apply to you; however, if you are currently on a leave of absence for child care, it does.
