At 6:30 p.m., the School Board honored Virginia High School League and Academic Team Recognitions for Fall 2023. The honored teams included:

  • Centreville High School Esports League of Legends - VHSL Tournament Champion
  • Centreville High School Saxophone Choir - VMEA Selected Performing Ensemble Group
  • Centreville High School Symphony Orchestra - VMEA Selected Performing Ensemble Group
  • Chantilly High School Jazz Group - VMEA Selected Performing Ensemble Group
  • Cooper Middle School Band - 77th Midwest International Band Clinic Selected Performance Ensemble
  • James W. Robinson Symphonic Band - VMEA Selected Performing Ensemble Group
  • Katherine Johnson Middle School Bella Canzone - VMEA Selected Performing Ensemble Group
  • Katherine Johnson Middle School Chamber Orchestra - VMEA Selected Performing Ensemble Group
  • Langley High School Girls Volleyball Team - Class 6 Girls Volleyball Champion
  • Langley High School Wind Symphony - VMEA Selected Performing Ensemble Group
  • Langley High School Flute Quartet - VMEA Selected Performing Ensemble Group
  • Langley High School Band - National Band Association Blue Ribbon Award (Division and National)

  • Woodson High School Esports Rocket League - VHSL Tournament Champion

 

At 7:30 p.m., the National Anthem was performed by the Daniels Run Elementary School Singers under the direction of Michelle McCarten.

Lift Every Voice and Sing was performed by the Justice High School Chamber Choir under the direction of Miranda Lansberry.

The School Board announced that beginning March 7, 2024 all School Board Regular Meetings will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The School Board approved proclamations honoring Career and Technical Education, Disability Employment, and Adult Community Education Appreciation Month and Bus Drivers, Bus Attendants, and Crossing Guards Appreciation Month.

The School Board heard from 8 members of the public during Community Participation.

Student Representative Rida Karim presented Student Representative Matters to the School Board.

The School Board approved the FY 2025 Advertised Budget, a needs-based budget focused on educational excellence and opportunity for all students and competitive compensation.

The School Board also approved the Monthly Employee Separation report, amendments to Policy 2245, Additional School Board Member Liaison and Task Force Appointments, minutes of the February 8, 2024 meeting, and several contracts.

Superintendent Reid presented a Strategic Plan Update, Academic Matters and Superintendent Matters.

The School Board also received presentations on Middle School Start Times and the Glasgow Middle School Boundary Study Scope.

Finally, the School Board regular meeting concluded with Board Matters.
