Registration for 2024-25 Dual Language Immersion Programs to Open January 22
Are you looking for a way to give your child a bilingual education? Do you want your child to learn in English and another language, such as French, German, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish? If so, you may be interested in the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs offered by Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). These programs allow students to learn half of the instructional day in English and half of the day in another language, such as French, German, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish.
Online registration for the Kindergarten and first grade county-wide DLI program lottery for the 2024-2025 school year will open on Monday, January 22, at https://www.fcps.edu/registration/dual-language-immersion-programs-registration. You must be a Fairfax County resident with children of prekindergarten or kindergarten age to be eligible to apply for the lottery process. You will need a SIS parent account to complete the application. If your child is currently not enrolled in FCPS, you will need to register them at their base school before completing the DLI lottery application.
The deadline for the first grade DLI program is Thursday, February 15, 4 p.m., and the deadline for the kindergarten DLI program is Monday, March 4, 4 p.m. First grade applicants will receive an email notification about the lottery results on February 29, and kindergarten applicants on March 19.
Please note that transportation is not provided for students who live outside the DLI school’s attendance area. There is also a one-time non-refundable pupil placement fee of $100 per student for those who choose a DLI program outside of their base school.
