Multae Laudes! 320 FCPS Latin Language Students Receive Honors

Three hundred twenty Latin language students from 10 Fairfax County public schools competed at the 71st annual Virginia Junior Classical League (VJCL) State Convention in November, in Richmond. FCPS winners represented:

  • Edison High School (pictured above)
  • Fairfax High School
  • Hayfield Secondary School
  • Lake Braddock Secondary School
  • Langley High School
  • Madison High School
  • Oakton High School
  • Robinson Secondary School
  • Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology

FCPS Latin language students won: 

  • 34 Sweepstakes Awards
  • 7 Best in Show Awards 
  • 4 Decathlon Test Awards 
  • The Maureen O’Donnell Grammar Award 
  • The Bob Parks Mythology Award 
  • The Mary Julia Pomfrey Graphic Arts Award

Additionally, two FCPS students were elected state officers for the VJCL: Vivian Xue, from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology as president, and Joshua Kohm, from Edison High School, as parliamentarian.
