Applications Now Open for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology Class of 2028

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST), a Governor's School within Fairfax County Public Schools that is regularly ranked as one of the top public schools in the country, has opened its application process for admissions for the class of 2028.

Current eighth graders who are passionate about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) are encouraged to apply. 

Applicants are required to have a grade point average of 3.5 or greater. They will also be asked to submit a STEM Problem-Solving Essay and a Student Portrait Sheet.

Additionally, FCPS students who are interested in applying to TJHSST must be currently enrolled in Algebra I Honors or higher, science honors, and one additional honors course such as English or Civics or be identified as a Young Scholar. Students applying from other participating school divisions or private schools, or who are homeschooled, and do not have access to honors classes, must be able to show they are taking the highest level of courses available to them.

Applications must be started by 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 15. The deadline to complete the final application is Friday, November 17, at 4 p.m. A full list of application requirements are available on the TJHSST Freshman Application Process webpage.
