Amended on 4/26/19

The 2019-2020 calendar was approved at the School Board's June 28, 2018, regular meeting. A revised 2019-2020 calendar was adopted on April 25, 2019 due to recent state legislation changes for the opening of school prior to the Labor Day holiday. Specifically, the Friday prior to Labor Day must now be a holiday. Additionally, the revised calendar includes making Friday, October 4, 2019 an instructional day to accommodate the new Labor Day holiday and moving Friday, March 13, 2020 School Planning Day (SP) to Tuesday, March 3, 2020 to accommodate the 2020 Presidential Primary.

Amended on 3/12/20

Monday, March 16, 2020 will be designated as a Student Holiday/Staff Development (SD) day to provide time for staff to prepare for the possibility of distance learning in the event of a school(s) closure due to COVID-19.

21st missed day April 13 will be considered a makeup day
22nd missed day No makeup required

The guidelines for determining the Standard School Year Calendar are outlined in Regulation 1344.

Makeup days may be used to ensure 990 hours of instruction. Missed days, delayed openings, and early dismissals must be considered in the calculation of these hours.

State code requires school districts to make up the first five missed days of school and then requires only every other day of missed school to be made up. Currently, FCPS has the equivalent of 20 days built into the calendar.
