High School Advanced Academic Programs (AAP)
Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI)
Due to COVID-19, this year's summer institute will be online. Synchronous instruction will occur daily from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Easter Standard Time (EST) for a total of 10 hours. The 20 remaining hours will include asynchronous instruction. There are two sessions:
- Week 1: June 22-26, 2020 (sessions for week 1)
- Week 2: July 6-10, 2020 (sessions for week 2)
All assignments must be completed within ten days of the start date of the institute. All participants are expected to be online at the same time for synchronous instruction. Asynchrounous instruction times will vary by consultant.
About APSI
The APSI offers teachers the information, tools, and strategies they need to build successful Advanced Placement programs in their schools. Participants will focus on curriculum challenges, share and discuss teaching strategies, and review the contributions of research to content, teaching, and labs.
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Advanced Academic Programs offers several types of challenging learning experiences to meet the needs of a broad range of advanced learners in high schools. Advanced Academic services are implemented using a school-based model through a variety of rigorous programs and coursework. Course offerings vary by each school.
