Educator and author, Joan M. Wolf, talks about her historical fiction novel Runs with Courage — the story of a young Lakota girl who reluctantly leaves her family’s reservation to attend a Christian residential boarding school in the 1880s. Wolf discusses the methods used by the U.S. government in an attempt to erase Native American culture and why cultural identity is important. She, also, shares her insights about the writing process and offers writing tips.

Colin Powell Elementary School students use technology, and other creative ways, to enhance their “book reports” including a movie trailer, a movie poster, a 3D poster, a flipbook, and a chronological display.
