Sixteen FCPS Students Win National Merit Corporate-Sponsored Scholarships

Sixteen Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) students have been awarded corporate-sponsored scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The students are part of a group of more than 1,000 National Merit finalists chosen to receive scholarships financed by companies, foundations, and other business organizations.

Winners of the corporate-sponsored scholarships, with their probable career fields in parentheses, are:

Grace Chung of Centreville High School (writing), National Merit New York Life Family Scholarship. Shreya Bhatia of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST) (medicine), National Merit-The PWC Charitable Foundation Scholarship. Deboshree Das of TJHSST (law), National Merit Siemens Scholarship. Megan Do of TJHSST (medicine), National Merit Northrop Grumman Scholarship. Alexander Hoganson of TJHSST (engineering), National Merit FTS International, LLC Scholarship. Jia Kim of TJHSST (undecided), National Merit General Dynamics Scholarship. Alison Li of TJHSST (industrial engineering), National Merit Northrop Grumman Scholarship. Yinglun Ma of TJHSST (chemistry), National Merit Macy’s Inc. Scholarship. Sahith Malyala of TJHSST (engineering), National Merit CACI Scholarship. Christopher Morris of TJHSST (software engineering), National Merit Lockheed Martin Academic Scholarship. Jared Nirenberg of TJHSST (chemistry), National Merit Leidos, Inc. Scholarship. Nikhil Ramachandran of TJHSST (computer science), National Merit Northrop Grumman Scholarship. Raghav Ramraj of TJHSST (medicine), National Merit Lockheed Martin Academic Scholarship. Lisa Qian of TJHSST (pharmacy), National Merit CACI Scholarship. Kaushik Venkatesh of TJHSST (medicine), National Merit Northrop Grumman Scholarship. Tiger Zhang of TJHSST (chemistry), National Merit Northrop Grumman Scholarship.

Corporate sponsors provide merit scholarship awards for National Merit finalists who are children of their employees, who are residents of communities the companies serve, or who have career interests the sponsors want to encourage.

Corporate-sponsored merit scholarship awards are renewable for up to four years of college undergraduate study and range from $500 to $10,000 per year. Others provide a single payment between $2,500 and $5,000. Recipients can use the awards at regionally accredited U.S. colleges or universities of their choice.
