Verification of Employment

The policies regarding employment verifications

In response to telephone or written requests, such as Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) disclosures, without signed authorization of the employee, the Department of Human Resources shall verify only the following information:

  • Job title
  • Date of last hire and date of separation, if applicable
  • Salary or rate of pay and records of the allowances or reimbursements for expenses of employees whose annual rate of pay is more than $10,000

For written requests for release of information supported by signed authorization of the employee or former employee, the Department of Human Resources may release the following:

  • Name during employment
  • Date of hire or separation
  • Last four digits of Social Security number (SSN), unless full SSN is requested or required
  • Job title
  • Salary or rates of pay
  • Eligibility for rehire
  • Job chronology
  • Reason for separation
  • Other information relevant to employment with the school system

FCPS does not fax confidential employment information, but we will e-mail a standard Employment Verification form to the requestor as long as the employee’s written consent is provided with the original request. Written requests will be provided within 5-7 business days.
