Ordering PE Uniforms for 2016-2017
Thoreau PE uniforms are now available for purchase online through Athletic Union. It is recommended to purchase more than one uniform so that your child has one to wear at school while the other is being washed at home.
The cost of the gym uniform pack (shirt and shorts) is $10 and all orders place before September 2nd will be delivered to the school. Uniforms ordered online will be distributed to students during PE classes the first week of school.

Excellence In Action Summer Program-July/Aug. 2016
This summer Thoreau MS will again be offering its Excellence in Action Program to rising 7th grade students. This program is designed by Thoreau staff members to provide students with the essential background knowledge and skills that will help them have a successful transition to middle school. EIA is a fee-based, week-long, half-day program. Click here for an informational brochure.

Algebra Boot Camp
Algebra boot camp enrollment is full and registration is now closed.
James Madison High School is offering families with a variety of camp programming – from Art & Pottery to Multi-Sport – for campers age 7 to 17 at Madison High School.

Summer Reading Programs
Book Your Summer with FCPS (#FCPSREADS)
FCPS has started a brand new program K-12 for students to play a unique form of "Bingo" by spelling out READ! across or diagonally on the reading game card. Students that submit their READ cards will be entered into a drawing. One student per grade level per school will win $50 in books of their choosing and one student per school will win a laptop with software and apps installed. Fairfax County Public Library Summer Reading Program - "Read For the Win"
FCPL will continue to have their summer reading program incentive of reading to earn a coupon book for a wide variety of free or discounted items (MS & HS students must read five books). Note, you can use the same books for both the FCPS and FCPL programs! Their "Read For the Win" program starts on June 23rd and ends on September 3rd.
