  • Congratulations to the 4 members of the Culinary program who earned GOLD at the Skills USA State Conference in April and now qualify to compete at the National level!

  • South Lakes is incredibly proud Derek Phillips who earned a top composite score of 36 on a recent ACT test. Nationally, less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn the top score. ¬†Great job Derek!

  • South Lakes is proud to have five National Merit Finalist and one National Achievement Finalist!

  • Congratulations to the 8 SLHS Speech & Debate team members who will be representing South Lakes at the National Championship in Chicago this spring!

  • The IB Exam Schedule is now available

  • Snow Day Makeup: The School Board voted to add June 25th to the school calendar to make up the 11th snow day we had. The 25th will be a two hour day. We are awaiting more details on whether June 23 & 24th are full or half days.

  • Eating Disorders are not always obvious to the casual observer in the early stages. Serious health issues can develop if one is not aware of what to look for. Parents of students in the 5th through 12th grades should be aware of the warning signs and the potential consequesnces of eating disorders.

  • The SLHS Theatre Arts Department proudly presents LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL. Performances are April 24-26 at 7pm, and May 1-3 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8.00 presale for students and seniors, $10 for adults and $12 at the door.

  • Attention all 10th graders!! The next Partners in Safe Teen Driving presentation is scheduled for May 6th at 7pm in the auditorium. Please arrive early with a parent and a pen. Remember all 10th grade students need to attend one presentation to receive their classroom drivers ed completion card. See your drivers ed teacher for additional dates at other local schools.

  • Report cards are being mailed over Spring Break. Please see your child's course selections for 2014-15 included in the mailing. Changes to course selections can be made until May 30th - due to staffing limits some courses are full or have been cancelled..
  • ACE: K-12 Personal & Academic Enrichment:ACE will be offering a variety of test preparation, study skills, and language classes at various locations this summer. ACE offers a premiere driver’s education behind the wheel program.

  • Planning for a job this spring /summer? Students no longer need to visit their local schools for work permits. Documents required to process a child labor permit can all be found at www.doli.virginia.gov

  • Pre-Order the 2014 yearbook Yearbook orders are available for the low price of $75. All pre-orders must be received by May 1. Any available yearbooks can be purchased at distribution for $80.

  • Students fines :¬† Please see Mrs. Lukehart in the Finance Office located in the main office to return outstanding books, uniforms, supplies or to settle debts.
