The McLean H.S. theatre department has been asked to be one of the American High Schools to represent the United States at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland!

On Monday, May 5th, McLean High School was treated to a mini concert by Def Jam's newest artist KARINA PASIAN. She performed, among others, her newest release "Sixteen"

 


 

 

MCLEAN SPRING SPORTS BANQUET NEWS

All varsity athletes and their families are invited to a reception and awards ceremony June 2nd, 6:30, MHS. Invitations were mailed but duplicates are available in the Activities Office if you did not receive one. Please respond by May 16th to Mrs. Banbury.

HIGHLANDERS OF THE WEEK

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR ART STUDENTS!

Congratualtions to Amber Muck for placing second in the Digital Art category in the2008 Herndon Technology and the Arts Competition. Amber will receive a cash award of $500.00.
Mattie Barringer received an honorable mention in digital photography and will be receiving a cash award of $100.00

TWELVE FCPS STUDENTS WIN NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

Twelve Win National Merit Scholarships
Twelve Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) students took home corporate-sponsored scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation
. The students are part of a group of approximately 1,100 National Merit finalists chosen to receive scholarships financed by companies, foundations and other business organizations. Winners included Christian Eubank of Herndon High, David Tran of Marshall High, Katherine Comey of McLean High and Joseph Rampino of Woodson High.The remaining eight students came from Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Technology

EIGHTEEN SCHOOLS NAMED FINALISTS FOR
INTEL SCHOOLS OF DISTINCTION AWARDS

Congratulations to Karen Molloy (Department Chair) and the McLean Science Department for being selected as a finalist for the Intel Schools of Distinction Award Science Excellence – The finalist schools provide a rich science curriculum incorporating hands-on investigative experiences that prepare students for 21st century jobs. Programs encourage student achievement in sciences and engineering, while simultaneously helping students to become knowledgeable consumers of news and data in order to be active and informed citizens. Programs are designed to meet the needs of all students, incorporating a variety of instructional strategies, and meeting rigorous education industry standards and assessment benchmarks.
