Immunization Requirement for
Sixth Grade Students

Prior to entering sixth grade, all students in Virginia are required to receive a booster dose of Tdap vaccine if at least five years have passed since the last dose of tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine (DTP, DTaP, DT, or Td).

If you have not turned in your child’s documentation, please do so as soon as possible. Your child cannot begin school in September without documentation of having had the Tdap booster or having had a tetanus-containing vaccine within the past five years.
