• Bus Routes
Bus routes will be posted on the front entrance of London Towne for your information.
Some bus delays may occur during the fist week of school as drivers experience new bus runs and the Transportation office makes schedule adjustments. Thank you for your patience.
  • Change in School Hours
As you have probably heard, elementary schools in FCPS will no longer have a two hour early release on Mondays starting this fall. This will give us a uniform week with the same arrival/dismissal times each day. Also, we have recently been informed about a change in our school hours. The instructional day will begin at 7:55 AM which is a change from the past. Dismissal will remain the same, beginning at 2:50 PM. We will not have any information about bus stops, schedules etc. until late August.

We want you to have as much information as possible as you start to make child care plans and to schedule your own lives. As we get further updates, we will pass it on.
  • Little Free Library
It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. You can, too!
The Little Free Library is now located outside the main entrance of London Towne Elementary School.
  • Summer Reading at London Towne
In order to encourage and support reading achievement, every student who will be entering grades six through twelve in the fall must read at least one book over the summer.
The follow-up in the fall will be determined by each school. The Summer Reading lists contain suggestions for reading; although students may read any other book that is approved by their parents.

  • August 28th - 8:30-9:30am
    Kindergarten Orientation
Class assignments will be posted on the front doors of London Towne by 8:30am.
We are looking forward to welcoming you and your family back to school. During the orientation, students will visit their classrooms and meet their teachers while parents receive a quick overview of kindergarten and school programs. After the overview, parents will also have the opportunity to see the classroom and meet their child's teacher.
It will be helpful to your child if you explain that he or she will be going to the classroom without you, but that you will be reunited and get to see the classroom together as well.
  • August 28th - 4:30-5:30pm
    Open House for grades 1-6
During this time, parents and students may visit their new classroom, meet their new teacher, and drop off any class list materials. This is an open house and therefore no format presentation on teacher expectations and grade level programs will be given. You will receive those types of important details at our Back to School Nights on September 17th and 18th.
    Class Listings
Class and teacher assignments for all grades will be posted in the gymnasium by 4:30pm on Thursday, August 28th (and will stay on the front doors of London Towne until the first day of school). We do not post assignments until then as we register new students each day and need to continually update class lists. Please note that many factors are used when determining class assignments including class size, a balance of heterogeneity, team teaching and program structures, relationships among children, student learning styles, and teacher strengths.
  • August 28th - 5:30-6:30pm
    London Towne Family Picnic
Weather permitting; this is a relaxed opportunity for you to get to know your child's teacher as well as other families in the class and the school. Hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be served. Families may bring their own food if preferred. It it is raining, the picnic will unfortunately be cancelled.
  • September 17th - 7:00-9:00pm

  • September 18th - 7:00-9:00pm
