2008 Virginia School Census

The 2008 Virginia School Census will begin on March 1st and end on July 15th. This census, which occurs every three years and is mandated by the commonwealth of Virginia, determines the fair distribution of state sales tax revenues throughout the state. The census counts every child through age nineteen (19) whether or not the child attends public or private school or is home-schooled. For each child counted between the ages of 5 and 19, approximately $3,000 will be returned to our schools.

Second/Third Grade Blanket Project

The Second and Third Grade Students made fleece blankets for homeless children. After completing the blankets students wrote about the project. Here is what they had to say:"I made blankets for the homeless. When somebody gets them I hope they like them. I did my best to make them. I made a white and blue one.""I am glad I helped a homeless person be warm. I am glad I am kind and not selfish. I am going to help homeless people again. It is important because it makes you and the homeless person happy.""I felt very good when I made the blanket. Its important to help others so we won't just care about ourselves."
