Welcome to Crestwood Elementary!

Crestwood Garden Club

The Crestwood Garden Club meets on Friday afternoons at the beginning of March and runs through June.  We will meet occasionally over the summer to collect our harvest and to distribute our it to families in need and Koinonia, the group where we recycle our lunch perishables.
The garden club learns about garden safety.  We also learn about gardening fundamentals, like weeding, sowing, planting, and watering plants.  We learn about the plant lifecycle by starting with seeds.  We also learn about composting and fertilizing soil with organic matter.  We will plant garden beds in the spring and plant flowers by harvested by seed in late spring.
We are competing in the Carton to Garden Contest being run by  This program requires us to recycle our milk cartons.  The link is here:
The garden club is open to children in grades four through six.  Our garden is 100 percent handicap accessible.  Our garden features 7 raised garden beds, one handicap accessible garden bed, a planting table that is handicap accessible, and outdoor classroom that is handicap accessible, a Virginia Natives garden, a butterfly garden, and compost bins.
