JoVon Rogers became executive principal for Region 6 in April 2024. She was previously the principal at FCPS' Mount Vernon High School. 

Rogers is a compassionate and collaborative leader renowned for uniting communities in support of students. Her wealth of experience will be an invaluable asset as she extends her support to school-based leaders and families across the region. 

With an impressive 28-year career in education spanning both elementary and secondary levels, JoVon has held roles such as teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. Notably, she initiated the first Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program at an FCPS elementary school, showcasing her innovative approach to education while at Gunston Elementary, a current Region 6 school. 

Rogers boasts a proven track record in instructional leadership and school improvement. Under her guidance, advanced academic course participation significantly increased, student achievement rose, and achievement gaps narrowed. Moreover, she successfully reduced chronic absenteeism, lowered dropout rates, and increased on-time graduation rates.
 
JoVon's leadership extends beyond individual schools, as she has served as a mentor and coach for principals nationwide. Her involvement in national principal networks, where she examines best practices and supports new principals, along with her presentations at multiple national conferences, underscores her commitment to elevating education on a broader scale. She serves as the 2024 president of the High School Principals Association. 

Rogers holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology and a Master of Arts in teaching from Morgan State University. She received her administration and supervision certificate from the University of Viirginia.
