AAP Center Discussion

A parent meeting was held in December to discuss the overcrowding situation at Greenbriar West Elementary School. Several students from the Brookfield Elementary School attendance area attend the Advanced Academic Program (AAP) Center at Greenbriar West.  Opening an AAP Center at Poplar Tree Elementary School is a proposal being discussed as a possible solution to relieve the overcrowding at Greenbriar West. Please take a few minutes to review the information.

A survey will be sent to all parents in January to gather additional feedback.  We encourage everyone to participate.

Congratulations Chess Team!

Five GBW students attended this year's Annual National Grade level Chess Championships held in Orlando last weekend. We are pleased to announce the excellent results of their performance.

  • 5th place in 3rd Grade Section

Congratulations to the students, coaches, and parents for their hardwork and dedication!

Winter Break

On December 19, students will be released two hours early and our dismissal will begin at 1:55 p.m.   Please make arrangements for your children.

The school and office will be closed during Winter Break from Dec. 22 – Jan. 2 and school will resume on Monday, January 5, 2015.

Holiday Food Drive

Greenbriar West’s Holiday Food Drive ends on Friday, December 19.  This food drive is a school-wide service learning project and our goal is to collect 1,600 food items (that’s less than 2 items per student!) for our neighbors in need.  GBW students will also learn about hunger in our community.   All items will go to the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries’ Community Food Bank, which is open to any family in need.
