Summer Reading Program
MyOn is once again doing a summer reading contest that runs from May 15th - Aug15th
Students don’t have to do anything but READ in MyOn to be entered. This year there are prizes for the top readers in grades preK-5, and 6-8 as well as school prizes.

iPAD Apps
Is your child coming home talking about an iPAD app they are using in their classrooom and you want to use the same one at home?
Good News! The FCPS Approved App list can be found at this link. This list categorizes Apps by title, curriculum area, and grade level.
If the app your child is talking about it is not on this list, please see your child's Blackboard page for more information about the apps being used in their classroom.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
FCPS has introduced an exciting new initiative encouraging students to bring in their personally-owned computing and network devices to school -- including eReaders, iPods and tablets. The ever-increasing amount of online instructional resources is the primary motivation behind this initiative. Participation in this initiative is strictly optional, at the discretion of each family.
4th, 5th and 6th grade students should FIRST check with their teachers if they are interested in bringing in their own devices, as each teacher will be able to advise them about when and for what they might need to use personal devices in class.
BEFORE being allowed to use a personal device in school parents must complete this online registration form and students MUST bring in a signed permission form. (NOTE: Only the last *2* pages of the Personal Device Information & Permission Form need to be brought in to school.) Permission forms should be turned in to Mrs. Costanza or Mr. Currie in Room 300. They can also bring their device with them at that time to be registered. Before devices can be used at school they must be registered by the technology staff.
The second page of the permission form includes space to write down the device make and model, serial number and MAC (network) address. If you are unsure of how to find the MAC address, please check this guide.This information should also be included on the online registration form.
Students and parents need to be aware that the students are responsible for any device(s) they bring in to school, and although Mr. Currie and Mrs. Costanza will assist in registering new devices to insure they work on our wireless network, we cannot troubleshoot or repair student devices.
Student devices cannot be stored at school each night, nor will there likely be a way to charge them if they are low on battery power – so when bringing in personal devices, students must make sure that they’re fully charged before coming in to school.
