2009-2010 Supply Lists
Supply lists for each grade level for the coming school year have been posted. See the "School Supply List" icon on the left. Families experiencing financial difficulties are encouraged to contact Mrs. Crooks or Mrs. McKinley, school counselors. We want all of our students to start the new school year with supplies needed to learn.

Summer Reading :
This summer, catch your child reading.  Take a photo.  Send it to us by snail mail or E-mail.  Include your child’s name and a caption. We will create a summer reading photo wall to greet our GBW readers when they come to school in September. There is no required reading list for grades K-6. Suggested books by grade level are provided by the Fairfax County Public Library. Preschoolers and students of all ages are invited to “Read Around the World” this summer during the library’s 2009 Summer Reading Program. Earn free and discounted prizes and enjoy puppet shows, animals, music, magic and more at special programs all summer. The Public Library Summer Reading Program runs from June 18September 5.

Rising 7th graders who will be attending Rocky Run Middle School should check out the Rocky Run Guidance web site for the summer reading form and suggested reading list. 7th grade summer assignments will be due Sept. 5th.

More Reading Fun:
Reading just got more exciting! We are happy to announce free access to TumbleBooks this summer. TumbleBook Library is a collection of animated, talking picture books, puzzles and quizzes for all types of readers. Check it out!

Help Us Keep You Informed:

If you prefer to receive school communications electronically, please be sure to

  • Include email addresses on your child’s Emergency Care Form to receive Keep In Touch Messages from Mrs. Cleveland and Dr. Dale's office.
  • Register for a Parent View Account (one time only - good as long as your child remains a FCPS student). So you can view all Thursday Folder announcements and your child’s FCPS 24/7 Learning course(s).
  • Register or update your email address with the GBW PTA for information about PTA events and Volunteer efforts.
  • Members of the Community can sign up for communication emails by visiting the Keep-In-Touch website, and clicking Community http://www.fcps.edu/kit/

Parents without internet access will still receive all notices in their child’s Thursday folder and may call the FCPS hot line,
800-839-FCPS (3277), to receive emergency announcements  in English, Korean, and Spanish.
