Jump Start

Franklin Jump Start, held August 11-15 from 8am - 12pm, is an introductory program offering our rising 7th graders the opportunity to boost literacy and numeracy skills, enjoy PE activities, and benefit from a "jump start" on the new school year. Students will become familiar with the middle school setting, including the "nuts and bolts" of Franklin, before our doors open in September. Program information is available here. Registration is closed; please contact Courtney Lesson, After-School Program Specialist, at with any questions.

FCPS Summer Reading Requirement

To inspire and support reading success, rising 7th and 8th grade students should read at least one book this summer. Students should be ready to discuss the basics of the book (title, author, summary, reader reactions) during English class the first week of school.

Need book ideas? Please visit the Middle School Summer Reading website. Additional information regarding county reading requirements is available here.
