Information and News of Interest
There are several events scheduled to help you prepare for a great school year. School information packets will be available for pickup at the following times:
Thursday, August 21: 8am - 5pm
August 22-29: 8am - 2pm
These packets contain important information, including your child's schedule and several forms that must be signed and returned to school. Only parents may pick up packets; any packets not claimed in advance will be distributed to students on the first day of school.
Rising 7th Grade Orientation will take place on Thursday, August 28. Buses will be provided, departing from local elementary schools at 8:30am. Students must bring their schedules. Students will be returned to their local elementary schools at 12pm. 8th grade students who are new to Franklin are also invited to attend.
Locker Afternoon will take place on Thursday, August 28, 3:30pm - 5pm. All students and parents are encouraged to attend, to locate and practice opening lockers. Students may bring their school supplies and place them in their lockers at this time. Students must be accompanied by a parent to attend Locker Afternoon.
The clinic will be open to receive medication, with proper documentation.
The cafeteria manager will be available to receive money for student accounts.
Lost and Found
We have many items in Lost and Found that were not claimed at the end of last school year, including several pairs of glasses. Please visit the Lost and Found bin in the Main Office to claim your belongings! Any items not claimed by Friday, August 29 will be donated.

FCPS Summer Reading Requirement
To inspire and support reading success, rising 7th and 8th grade students should read at least one book this summer. Students should be ready to discuss the basics of the book (title, author, summary, reader reactions) during English class the first week of school.

Awards and Recognitions
Franklin Middle School is the proud recipient of the 2013 Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Award.
FMS Custodial Staff was recently honored with the distinction of Custodial Staff of the Year, 2012-13, and a Certificate of Recognition for outstanding building and grounds maintenance, 2012-13.
