Active Eligible Employees to Receive a Bonus in their November Paycheck

We appreciate our FCPS employees’ service, dedication, and contributions made over the past year. Recognizing your efforts, all active eligible employees as of November 1, will be paid a bonus. Eligible hourly employees will receive $500. Both full-time and part time contracted employees including bus drivers and food service employees will receive $1,000. Bi-weekly employees will receive payment in their paycheck on November 19, and monthly employees will see the bonus in their November 30 paycheck.

How do I know if I’m eligible for the bonus in November?

  • Full-time and part-time contracted employees active as of November 1, 2021, will receive $1,000.
  • Temporary hourly employees who were paid for work performed from October 1, 2020 to October 22, 2021, and an active employee as of November 1, 2021, will receive $500.

I’m going on an unpaid leave in October and not returning to work until December.  Am I eligible?

  • No. You need to be in an active paid status as of November 1, 2021.

When will I receive the bonus in my paycheck?

  • Monthly employees will receive the bonus in their November 30 check and biweekly in their November 19 check.

Can I receive more than one bonus?

  • No.  If you are an active full or part time contracted employee as of November 1, 2021 and also work in a temporary hourly capacity you will only receive the $1,000 bonus.

Am I eligible for the bonus if I retired before November 1, 2021?

  • No. You need to be in an active paid status of November 1, 2021.

Will there be taxes and other deductions taken from my bonus? 

  • Yes.  FICA, Federal, State, and County (MD) taxes.  If applicable, 403(b) and 457 tax deferred plans and court ordered withholdings such as tax liens, garnishments, and student loans will also be deducted.  Be advised that the tax rate for bonuses is higher than the tax rate for regular wages.
