Deirdre Lavery was named Interim Executive Principal for Region 2 in September 2021. 

She is a retired principal with over 30 years of service to FCPS who most recently served as principal at John R. Lewis High School from 2014-2019 and Glasgow Middle School from 2004-2012.  Under her leadership, the school revitalized the Diploma and Career Program and achieved the designation of International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for the Middle Years Program which represents a commitment to international education that is extremely-validated by a regimen of rigorous assessment. She has worked as a teacher and administrator both at the middle and high school levels.  

Lavery is a graduate of Marymount University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Special Education.  Her graduate studies in educational leadership were completed at George Mason University.
