Superintendent Search Letter to Staff

Letter from GR Recruiting to FCPS staff

The following letter from GR Recruiting is directed to FCPS staff:

The Fairfax County School Board has contracted with the search firm GR Recruiting to conduct the search for Fairfax County Public Schools’ new superintendent, given Dr. Brabrand’s announcement of his departure at the end of his contract. The search will be based on the Board and community’s priorities and values.

GR Recruiting has a proven track record of search experience and hiring superintendents for large, preK-12 school districts. The firm has a keen understanding of the importance of involving staff in the engagement process and making sure they know their input and thoughts are valuable in moving forward with the search.

As a critical first step in the process, GR Recruiting will be conducting Staff Stakeholder Meetings on Tuesday, December 14, through Thursday, December 16. Pre-identified staff members representing all staff groups will be invited to participate. The purpose of the meetings will be to gain insight into what characteristics and personality traits staff would like to see in the new superintendent. Some meetings will be conducted in person and others via Zoom. Each meeting will last approximately 50 minutes.

Your participation is extremely important in this process. While we realize we cannot speak with each staff member individually, we will administer a Superintendent Search Survey as another engagement opportunity. By participating in this survey, all staff, parents, students, and community members will have an opportunity to share their thoughts on the leadership characteristics and qualities of the next superintendent. In addition, we will host town halls for the FCPS community in January.

Information gathered through all of the community engagement opportunities above will inform the selection of FCPS’ new superintendent. Thank you in advance for your participation in this process.
