I am currently serving in my third term on the School Board. I hold a master's degree in social work from the University of Maryland, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining the Board in 2012, I was an active community leader and education advocate. My leadership roles included: president and co-founder of FAIRGRADE; chairman and co-founder of Fairfax Education Coalition (FEC); president of Little Run Elementary School PTA; advisor for Fairfax Zero Tolerance Reform (student discipline); executive member of Restore Honors Courses (high school curriculum); the 2003 Braddock District Representative to the FCPS Bond Committee; and Rutherford Swim Team Representative and member of the pool board.

Prior career experience includes: former Georgetown University undergraduate admissions officer; Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court family counselor; and staff member for the Easter Seals of New Castle, Delaware. I am also a parent of three recent Woodson High School graduates, and 25 year resident of Fairfax County.

During my Board tenure, I have served in the roles of: Budget Chair, Audit Committee Chair, Governance Committee Chair, and Board Representative to the Successful Children and Youth Policy Team (SCYPT), the CDC’s 2015 Epi-Aid Report on teen suicide, the Sports Tourism Task Force, and the Synthetic Turf Task Force. I have also participated in the two Superintendent searches.

Current term expires 12/31/23
