Register Your Child for Optional Screening Testing

In support of our commitment to safety, FCPS will begin COVID-19 screening testing in schools.

November 28, 2021

FCPS Families,

We are excited to welcome your children back to school tomorrow after the Thanksgiving break. To keep our schools safe and your children learning in person, we encourage you to register your child for COVID-19 screening testing at your school.

Many of you may have traveled this weekend, hosted visitors, or spent time in crowded spaces such as shopping centers. There are more holidays to look forward to over the coming weeks that will present the same opportunities. Our region has moved back to substantial community transmission. And, we are now in flu season. We must remain vigilant in our individual and collective efforts to keep ourselves healthy and our school safe.

Screening testing identifies unvaccinated people with COVID-19 who are asymptomatic and do not have known, suspected, or reported exposure to COVID-19. School-based testing is recommended to limit the spread of COVID-19 and to keep schools open and safe. It is an easy way to do your part to keep your school safe and open for all.

Register your child for screening testing using our secure online portal.

We have measures in place to ensure that any student who tests positive for COVID-19 can continue to engage in learning and return to school as quickly as possible.

  • StreamIN/CheckIn is a great option for students who are out of school recovering from COVID-19 or working through the pause or quarantine process to stay engaged and be ready to return strong.
  • We recently announced a shortened quarantine period, from 14 days to 10 days, reducing the time students are required to be out of the classroom.
  • All students over the age of 5 are now eligible to be vaccinated and vaccination status helps students return to school faster.

Please consider registering your child for COVID-19 screening testing so we can continue to keep schools safe. Working together we remain strong and are doing our part to end this pandemic.

Thank you.
