Community Suggested Names and Vote

Community Voting Results from September 16

UPDATE September 16, 2017

The results of the community voting for preferences for renaming J.E.B. Stuart High School are below. The list of names was suggested at the community meeting on Saturday, September 9 as new names for J.E.B. Stuart High School, and community voting occurred on September 16, 2017. They are listed in the same manner they were on the ballot, along with the total points the name(s) received as first, second and third choice – along with the combined total. First choice was worth 3 points, second choice 2 points, third choice 1 point.

The next step in the process, in accordance with FCPS Regulation 8170.7, Renaming Existing School Facilities, is "the Division Superintendent will formulate a recommendation consisting of one or more of the most popular choices according to community input. The Division Superintendent shall then transmit the recommendation to the School Board for consideration and action."

Per standard School Board process, the Division Superintendent recommendation will be posted on September 21, to the School Board's BoardDoc website one week prior to his September presentation to the School Board during its business meeting on September 28.

The School Board will then consider the Superintendent recommendation at its work session on October 16 and the School Board will vote on October 26, 2017.
