Health Benefit Plan Coverage Includes Personal Use COVID-19 Test Kits

Reminder that FCPS health benefit plan coverage includes over-the-counter (OTC) COVID-19 testing kits.

Just a reminder, employees and dependents who are covered by an FCPS health plan have access to free, rapid over-the-counter (OTC) COVID-19 testing kits.

Covered individuals may receive up to eight OTC at-home tests per 30-day period. No order is required from your healthcare provider. Follow these links for more information on obtaining reimbursement:

  • Aetna/Innovation Health and CareFirst members: OTC test kits are provided through your pharmacy benefits (administered by CVS Caremark). Please refer to the banner at the top of the CVS Caremark website for instructions on how to order test kits or to seek reimbursement for kits purchased on or after January 15, 2022:
  • Kaiser Permanente members: Members may purchase OTC COVID-19 self-test kits from a Kaiser Permanente facility or from a participating retail pharmacy, such as Rite Aid, Walmart, and Costco. If you purchased a self-test kit from an external pharmacy on or after January 15, 2022, follow the instructions posted on the KP website to obtain reimbursement:…

Please note:

  • COVID testing performed in a physician’s office remains covered under the health plans for $0 copay when the test is ordered by a treating provider.
  • OTC Health plan provided tests are not for administration of the FCPS unvaccinated testing pool’s weekly testing requirement.  COVID employment testing pool participants were provided ‘home’ tests to use each week in compliance with the current preventative screening testing.
