Are you over age 70 ½ and received information from ERFC about starting your benefits?

Under the terms of the ERFC Plan and the Internal Revenue Code, a Plan member must begin receiving payments from ERFC no later than the member’s “required beginning date,” which is April 1 of the calendar year following the later of: (a) the calendar year in which the member attained age 70 ½ , or (b) the calendar year in which the member retires. If you were an FCPS full-time educational, administrative or support employee for 5 years or more, you are an ERFC Deferred Vested Member. ERFC is your supplemental defined benefit retirement plan. Your ERFC retirement benefit supplements the primary benefits you will earn from the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) and Social Security.
