Superintendent Announces 5 Day Return to In-Person Learning in Fall

Letter to Community - March 16, 2021

Dear FCPS Community,

As we celebrate FCPS’ strong return to in-person instruction of 109,000 students and staff this week, I want to thank you for the patience, support, and trust you have shown over the past year.

Without your steadfast commitment to every single one of our students during a year that none of us would ever have expected, we would not be experiencing the triumphs that we are experiencing today.

We are thrilled to announce that we will be returning to five days a week of in-person learning in Fall 2021. Thanks to the diligent work of our staff, students, and families - along with the work of our Safety Teams - we are seeing very low numbers of COVID cases in our schools and will continue to monitor this data as we plan for the return of all our students in August.

While this pandemic has brought us challenges, it has also taught us to welcome the authentic moments of success that remind us of how important we are to one another and how far we have come in the past 12 months.

I thank all of you for your commitment and dedication over the past year.

Sincerely,

Scott S. Brabrand, Superintendent
Fairfax County Public Schools
