COVID-19 FAQ for Adult and Community Education (ACE)

If my class is canceled will I receive a refund?

Per FCPS ACE standard refund policies - If a class is canceled a refund will be issued. For courses having multiple sessions where one or more classes are not held, makeup sessions will be scheduled for a future date.

What is the FCPS ACE standard refund policy?

You will automatically receive a refund when a class is canceled.

To request a refund in advance of the class, your written request must be received by 5 p.m. (ET) three business days prior to the class start date.

Due to FCPS enrollment requirements regarding the behind-the-wheel class, refunds or transfers will not be given unless a written request is received by 4:30 p.m. (ET) five business days prior to the start of class.

Online classes have unique refund policies.

For more information, visit the ACE Refund page. A $15 withdrawal fee is assessed for each refund is applied to all FCPS ACE classes.

What if I am ill, quarantined, or caring for a family member, and I cannot attend class?

If the course has not started yet, please see our standard refund policy. If the course has started please contact the FCPS ACE program specialist for the course for information on accommodations and possible refunds or credits towards a future course.

Where can I stay informed on ACE classes?

We recommend regularly checking the FCPS website for updates for this evolving situation. Additionally, FCPS and FCPS ACE social media accounts will also alert you to the most current information.

Are classrooms at FCPS Adult Learning Centers (Plum Center and Pimmit Hills Center) being cleaned?

Classrooms at Adult Learning Centers are being cleaned to the same standards as all FCPS schools and facilities. Please see the information on FCPS facilities cleaning protocols.

Will there be online or virtual class options?

FCPS ACE has converted many courses to online options and are offering a robust selection of online classes. We are planning to resume face to face classes later in the Fall when it is safe to do so.

Will I be able to register for courses if FCPS schools and offices are closed?

Online registration is available 24/7. If FCPS offices are closed, registrations by telephone are available at a reduced schedule for call-ins to 703-658-1201.  The days and times when staff will be available to answer your calls are Monday-Wednesday-Friday from mid-morning to mid-afternoon, excluding holidays.  Additionally, you may send an email to aceonline@fcps.edu with your name, phone number, and question or course you would like to enroll and a registration staff member will call you back in the order in which emails are received.
