The Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS)

Department of Aging Rehabilitative Services (DARS) Transition Services helps students move from high school to the world of work and adult life.

The Department of Aging Rehabilitative Services (DARS) works with high school students with disabilities, their families, school staff, and community programs, by providing:

  • Outreach and resources
  • Education and training
  • Planning meetings

 
DARS Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program offers high school students job help that may include:

  • Career help
  • Evaluation
  • Job training options
  • Job placement and follow-up
  • Technology help
  • Community-based services

 
To receive help, clients must live in Virginia, meet DARS criteria, and be able to work in the United States. You may have to pay for some DARS services.

Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) helps people through their Postsecondary Education Rehabilitation Transition (PERT) program. It may assess:

  • Career strengths
  • Independent living skills
  • Social skills
  • Driving

WWRC offers career training programs and services to help people over age 18 with career development.
