Title I Parent Advisory Committee (TPAC) Member Role

Committee members collaborate to inform division Title I practices.

Roles and Responsibilities of Committee Members

  • Learn about and offer feedback on Title I grant services and family engagement approaches taking place in FCPS and in other Title I schools.
  • Provide input into planning and implementation to refine and enhance Title I grant services and family engagement approaches within FCPS.
  • Provide input into development of an annual School Board report with recommendations for actions to improve services to families in Title I communities.
  • Develop and foster a line of communication with school administrators, faculty family engagement leaders, and Parent Teacher Association/Organization leaders in Title I schools. 
  • Collaborate to annually review and revise the division-level Title I parent and family engagement policy.
  • Develop personal leadership and advocacy skills through partnerships with fellow parents and school staff.
  • Share new ideas and strategies for fostering family engagement with the committee.
  • Share resources gained through the committee with other parents and school staff.
  • Provide insights into barriers to family engagement within FCPS and specific communities and offer suggestions for how to overcome these barriers.

Committee Resources

  • Interpretation services are provided in Spanish for each meeting, with support for additional languages, as needed.
  • Child care is provided for children ages 4 and up during each meeting.
  • Light snacks are offered for parents attending evening meetings. 
  • Meeting dates and locations are posted on the School Board calendar of events.
  • All meetings are open for any parent in Title I schools and to the general public.
  • Parents and guests may observe meetings remotely via Zoom.
