FCPS announces the appointment of two new principals.

Felicia Drake, who currently serves as assistant principal at Herndon Elementary School, has been named the new principal of Cardinal Forest Elementary School, effective July 2. Drake began her FCPS career as a special education teacher in 1990 at Timber Lane Elementary School and Centre Ridge Elementary School.  In 2013, she was appointed assistant principal at Hunters Woods Elementary School, where she served until 2017.  At Hunters Woods, she redesigned and strengthened instructional practices to increase accountability for monitoring student progress, instructional planning, and social progression of all students.  Drake became an assistant principal at Herndon Elementary School in 2017, where she supervised several community outreach and mentoring programs and organized Latina SciGirls. A graduate of James Madison University where she earned her bachelor of science in education/special education, she earned a master of arts, initiatives in educational transformation, from George Mason University; and a master of arts in educational leadership from Regent University.

Roxanne Salata, who currently serves as principal at Ravensworth Elementary School, has been appointed as principal of Clermont Elementary School, effective July 15.  An experienced educator with 23 years of experience, Salata worked as a teacher in Florida and at Mosby Woods Elementary School. She also served as a LEAD Fairfax administrative intern and an assistant principal at Lane Elementary School. Salata earned a master of science in educational leadership from NOVA Southeastern University in Miami. She has her Virginia postgraduate professional license with endorsements in health and physical education and administration and supervision, both K-12.
