TJHSST Student Recognized for Community Service

Siddharth with flowers he madeSiddharth, a student at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST), is being recognized by the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) and InnerView for his community service. In the second annual National Community Service Awards, Siddharth earned the Ambassador Award for performing more than 100 hours of community service. Among his contributions were hosting and publicizing a food truck in his neighborhood to gather donations and help those in need; collecting items for a local shelter; making flowers to show appreciation to health care workers; sending cards to spread cheer among patients at a local children’s hospital; creating a Scratch game to help elementary students learn to code and a presentation on ecology for freshmen and sophomores; conducting a Raspberry Pi programming session; presenting a tool that analyses genes in an attempt to find treatment plans for Autism Spectrum Disorder; and fundraising for the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Spinal Cord Injury and Rehabilitation Program.
