South Lakes IB Students Enrich Study of Civil Rights Movement with Trip to NMAAHC
South Lakes High International Baccalaureate (IB) World Topics students visited the National Museum of African American History and Culture to enrich their study of the U.S. Civil Rights movement, part of their unit on Rights and Protests. Students were able to view the Emmett Till Memorial, walk through a segregated rail car, and sit at a recreated lunch counter. Many students also had the chance to explore exhibits that focused on the important roles athletes and entertainers had in the Civil Rights movement.
