Original Music to be Featured by Music and Computer Technology Students at Fairfax Academy’s 14th Annual MCT Fest
Music and Computer Technology (MCT) students from Fairfax Academy will present their original music at the 14th annual MCT Fest on Saturday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Sherwood Center in Fairfax. MCT level 1 and 2 students—which includes 50 students from more than 20 Fairfax County public schools—will demonstrate their appreciation of a wide variety of music, including rock, jazz, rap, classical, pop, acoustic-folk, and other genres. Students plan, organize, promote, and practice for the event throughout the school year. Performers audition in front of a panel of second-year MCT students to ensure they are prepared to perform at an event of this level. Tickets are $15 and will be sold at the door. Proceeds go directly back into the MCT classroom to purchase items needed for its operation (which includes keyboards, MIDI devices, microphones, cables, and software upgrades). For more information, or to make a donation to the event, contact MCT instructor Christopher Johnston at 703-219-2246 or career experience specialist Erin Molek at 703-219-2385 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Donations can be dropped off at the Fairfax Academy office inside Fairfax High School, or mailed to Christopher Johnston at Fairfax Academy (attn: Christopher Johnston/MCT Fest), 3501 Rebel Run, Fairfax, VA 22030. The event is part of the Spotlight on the Arts in the City of Fairfax.
