Mosby Woods Elementary STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) teacher Peyton Avery was recently interviewed by the EiE Museum of Science in Boston for their blog about how teachers are adapting engineering content in virtual classrooms. Avery shared her methods for modeling success and failure in the design process while teaching online. To tailor her lessons to virtual learning, Avery explains, “I see every class only for about 30 minutes and I see them every other week, so that's presented a lot of challenges in terms of big project-based learning.” She explained the process of converting her lesson plans to suit shorter windows of time. “So, instead, I do multi-week projects and they're supposed to take four weeks [with hour-long lessons], so [our limited time] makes them take eight weeks.” Read the interview online.
