Message Sent to Parents at Oakton High School

News Release
January 29, 2020

The following message was sent to Oakton High School parents:

Dear Parents,
As some of you may be aware, a student at Oakton High School was assaulted last week on school property. The moment the school became aware of this incident we began an extensive investigation into this matter, which continues.  As a result of multiple interviews and the significant information received, appropriate disciplinary action as outlined in the FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) will be assigned. The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) was immediately informed and opened an investigation. The FCPD is continuing their investigation and the school is assisting the police in any way that we can.
Our primary responsibility is the safety and well-being of our students and staff.  We will continue to be diligent in our efforts to provide a safe learning environment and instruct our students who see something to say something to a known adult, including parents and/or school staff.
Thank you for your support and cooperation.
Jamie S. Lane, Principal
